Putting the ‘P’ into Partnership

Christmas is a time for sharing and caring, and what better way to celebrate the festive season than with sharing with you the local partnerships we have nurtured since starting StirrUps Bar and Restaurant.

It’s always been part of the plan to support the community, drive the local economy and boost sustainability.  However, we underestimated how many strong relationships we would cultivate with local producers, suppliers, events and teams.  Here, we share what we’ve been doing to grow our local presence and why it’s so important to support each other.

Sourcing Local

Darren, our Head Chef, is passionate about sourcing quality local ingredients, from the condiments in your salad to the mince in your burgers.  Last summer, he met Clifford from Everes’s Farms and quickly fell in love with his mince from his roaming, grass-fed, Gloucester cattle, a rare breed that teetered on the brink of extinction some years ago. Thanks to Clifford’s work, this breed continues to flourish in our local countryside.

We spent a lot of time making sauces in the early stages, which became time-consuming, but we were not prepared to let just anything go in our burgers, so we sampled lots!  Following a plethora of rather bland tasting sessions, we finally stumbled upon a fantastic taste sensation courtesy of Tubby Toms, based in Gloucester.  We believe Tom’s sauces are the best around and are a match-made-in-heaven for our burgers.

Burger bread rolls are challenging to get right and is something we have never been happy with until we met Sam from Ma Baker in Worcester. His unique Japanese brioche recipe makes the most delicious and softest, yet robust rolls to accommodate our big saucy burgers.

We are very keen to work with local businesses to support each other in the town and surrounding areas. Here are just a few we partner with:

Sponsoring Local

We’ve always believed you have to stand out from the crowd and do things a little different.  So, as part of our launch plan, we aimed to utilise some of our marketing budget to make a difference to young people’s lives, especially following tough times through the pandemic.

Evesham United FC - Football Academy

We became aware that EUFC Academy was looking for a sponsor, so we walked the talk and signed up to support them for 3 years!

We are delighted that our support is going to a football academy that helps develop players from a young age, right through to post-16-years-old.  You never know, one day the next Kane, Rashford, Messi or Ronaldo will come out of the EUFC Academy and we may have played a small part in this development.

We’ve also recently supported Evesham Vale United with a new kit for their teams.

Cheltenham Guardians

Going on a night out should be a fun and enjoyable experience.  Unfortunately for some, the night can throw up many challenges.  The safety of our patrons is our primary concern and we sponsor the Cheltenham Guardians, who protect people on a night out who may end up in a vulnerable position.  We’re hoping to work with them to launch this vital initiative in the Evesham area.

Check out their noble work here.

Cheltenham Racecourse

Finally, how could we let Cheltenham races pass without being part of the thrill of the November meeting!  Everyone in the area loves a good day at the races and the Paddy Power sponsored Saturday in November is renowned as being a ‘locals’ day.

It did not disappoint with a crowd of circa 35,000 seeing our StirrUps advertising splashed around the course! Even the race we sponsored was won by a local trainer, which I think sums us up, “keeping it local”.
